Lewiston Regional Technical Center
Overview
The Lewiston Regional Technical Center (LRTC) provides a variety of innovative educational opportunities to Junior and Senior high school students in Androscoggin County, Maine. Like many of its sister programs, LRTC suffers from an outdated image as “Voc Ed” and is primarily thought of for kids who are not college bound and are not particularly bright. By contrast, students at LRTC have a high rate of college attendance and completion and have an impressive track record of students becoming employed in their field of interest. LRTC wanted to create an outreach campaign in the community to attract more students and change its image.
Our Work
In 2010, Encompass developed a collaborative project that included pro bono and paid time to develop a Marketing Plan for LRTC with Senior students in its Marketing II class. Encompass developed outlines and coached students to conduct a dozen student focus groups (Freshmen – Seniors), from which the students created an outline of goals and objectives to promote LRTC.
Encompass then took this information and created a Marketing Plan which was then provided to participating students to use as part of their resumes. As a final piece, working under the direction of Encompass’ Creative Director, the 2011-2012 Graphic Design students will use this information to create a new LRTC logo.
On-Going Support
Beyond our student work, Encompass has developed some creative outreach materials and has worked on a monthly basis to advance stories in local and social media.
